Rose with many petals

There was once a rose with many petals,

There was once a plant with many buds.

They were once together,

They never were apart,

They were the lovers that were inseparable.

Their minds were always dozing,

There hearts were always alive.

There was once a rose with many petals,

There was once a plant with many buds.

They were always dreaming about the things that never could,

They were yearning for that neutral land so far away.

But this was all in mind,

They never were together,

A hundred yards between them,

Three different soils between them,

Drifting apart and making wider space between them.

I’m glad I’m not that plant,

I’m glad he’s not that rose,

So I can’t watch my lover drift away to places where I

couldn’t find him,

I’m glad I’m not that plant.

I wish I was a rose with many petals,

And he a plant with many buds.

I wish we were together,

That we never were apart,

And that we were the lovers that were inseparable.
